Study confirms Sound Healing Heals Cancer, Arthritis,Autoimmune Disease, & More....

Sound healing is the practice of using audio tones and vibrational frequencies to repair damaged tissue and cells within the body. It works on the basis that all matter is vibrating at specific frequencies, and sickness, disease, depression and stress causes human beings to vibrate at a lower frequency. Playing tones that promote healing, happiness and vitality will allow DNA strands to repair themselves, and several scientific studies have been conducted on the potential healing benefits of audio sound frequencies. Sound has been used as a healing tool for centuries, and is still regularly utilized by many different alternative healthcare centers. Tibetan singing bowels, tuning forks, drumming therapy, and even chanting are all used in sound therapy and many participants experience strong emotions during therapy sessions. Advocates of sound healing claim that it has the power to heal mental illness, arthritis, autoimmune disorders and can even shrink cancerous tumors.

What are the Healing Arts?

By: Rachael "BluLotus" Bynum, Healing Arts Practitioner

What Are the Healing Arts?

The healing arts are used to as a way to promote healing, wellness, coping, and personal development.  The arts include visual, performing, auditory, therapeutic/energetic touch, and literary. These approaches utilize creative expression to transform the person's state of psychological and spiritual well being. These sessions are led by therapists experienced in both areas.

Are you already using the Arts?

There is a fine line between the artist and the healer. When was the last time you let music speak to your soul? Do you still color or paint? Activities like drawing, dancing, writing, singing, acting, or playing an instrument are all ways to tap into the traditional healing arts. It is a way of knowing yourself better on the deepest levels, connecting with others, coping with stress, and communicating your inner experience in a way that is most comfortable for you.

Non Traditional Healing Art Forms

When was the last time your hands touched the dirt the way it did as a child? Gardening and cooking help you to experience your senses and connect with nature. Laughter is good for the soul and helps to boost the immune system. Meditation, yoga, and guided imagery bring us into a deep relaxation, and helps us feel more connected to our body, nature and the universe in which we live. Crystal Healing is an art form that can clear your aura and rebalance your mind, body, and spirit. Therapeutic touch in the form of massage promotes healing and rest by increasing the circulation of blood and lymph, and by releasing any tension that the body may be carrying. Other examples are Reiki, which is energy healing, or by using sound healing through Tibetan Singing Bowls or Tuning Forks.

How Healing Art Practitioners use the Arts?

Healing arts therapies are tailored to the individual, using methods that the person will identify with. Healing arts practitioners understand that health is not just the absence of dis-ease but a creation of positive opportunities that impact the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual states of a person's well being. Practitioners use the arts to get their client/patient to a better psychological state and life situation, as they're coping with stress, illness, hurt, or trauma....or simply as an outlet of self expression. Practitioners are found is hospitals to create a healthier environment, or they may work with youth, community centers, art centers, private practices, spas, complimentary & alternative health centers, etc..

Are You Productive or Just Busy?

By: Rachael "BluLotus" Bynum
Being “busy” for the sake of being busy is a waste. Instead, be productive.
1..Plant your seed (ideas/dreams) in fertile soil with proper planning and good intent.
2.Water it with love by adding nutrients of evolving ideas while imagining that dream.
3. Allow light and air to bring growth to that seed (idea).
4.Get rid of any harmful insects or dis-eases that may attack the seed’s development. These are better known as bad habits, poor association, and distractions.
5. Get out of the way and watch magic happen.
LETTING GO and allowing nature to run it’s course is truly an art….It’s where most get impatient or quit. But if you’ve planted the seed with love and good intent, just like nature, it has no choice but to manifest. Your season is almost here. Patience, my friend. Trust yourself and trust that your seed will grow.

How to Draw a Mandala for Healing

Artist: Rachael "BluLotus" Bynum
The picture you see above is from my first attempt at drawing a mandala for meditation. I drew it with the help of this tutorial on  How to Draw a Mandala

What is a Mandala?

Mandala means circle in Sanskrit. Mandalas are sacred circles that have been long been used to facilitate meditation in the Indian and Tibetan religions. People create them by using pencils, crayons, paint, etc. Then they can be used as a healing art to center the body, mind, and spirit.

An increasing number  of clinical trials suggests that meditation has the ability to boost the immune system, reduce stress, reduce pain, lower blood pressure, and promote sleep.

Drawing Mandalas allows one to express his/her creativity, which many people neglect day to day. Children can greatly benefit from coloring mandalas in a coloring book in order to deal with their emotions and cope with not always being able to verbalize what they're feeling, especially autistic children. People who are dealing with terminal illnesses and depression can use mandalas to focus their energy on these objects as a creative outlet.

I hope you find the time to add Mandalas to your life.  Start today by learning How to Draw a Mandala

How Do You Perceive Yourself?

 By: Rachael "BluLotus" Bynum

Self perception involves truly getting to know yourself. You must have a self assessment of how you see yourself. Determine who you are, your strengths and weaknesses, and how you can use your assets to your advantage. In being honest with yourself, you can also determine what areas need work.
I think we all have had our share of moments where we sabotaged ourselves by thinking, “I’m not ready…. I’m not good enough….I’m not pretty enough…. or I’m not smart enough.” But compared to who? You are just as  capable as the next person…. the only difference is they believed in themselves. We have to have faith in our capabilities and invest in our growth.
Starting new habits, working out, buying a new wardrobe, and speaking positive affirmations can help in forming a better perception as well. You will feel more confident by doing things that make you look and feel good.
Since self perception determines our behavior, we have to empty our cup that’s full of doubt and fear in order to fill it with new ways of thinking that will move us forward in life.
Perception matters.

How to Massage the Reflexes of the Head

Below, I have attached charts and methods to massage the reflexes of the head. I hope you find this information beneficial to you

One way to massage these reflexes is to use the center finger, which is called the fire finger because it sends out energy more strongly than the other fingers. With a pressing, rolling motion feel for a sensitive spot. Do not rub the skin, rub the bone area under the skin very gently. These tender spots are areas you want to massage. You don't have to memorize these spots but the chart helps you to be aware of the areas in which you are feeling tender points.

3 other methods of stimulation:
1. Grab handfuls of hair and pull.  The stimulates not only the hair, but reflexes of the whole body.
2. Close your fist very loosely and swing them loosely from the wrists as if they were on hinges. Very gently use these fists to tap the head all over very quickly for no more than 30 seconds. This will bring life to every organ and gland in your body.
3. If you have a Wire brush, use it to Tap the head gently all over. This will stimulate the reflexes and the hair follicles to promote growth.

Basic Massage Techniques

By: Rachael "BluLotus" Bynum, LMT

Massage therapy is manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person's health and well-being. There are dozens of methods, or modalities, of massage.
In the U.S,one of the most common styles of massage therapy is Swedish massage. It lays the foundation for other massages such as deep tissue, prenatal, sports massage, etc.. It was reportedly pioneered in 1812 by the Swedish physiologist Peter Henry Ling and was introduced to the U.S. in 1858. It initially started as four basic strokes (effleurage, petrissage, tapotement and friction) with vibration becoming the fifth stroke made years later. Strokes are performed directly on the client's skin using massage oil, lotion or cream. During a professional massage session, the client undresses to their comfort level underneath a sheet or and the therapist only uncovers the area he or she is working on at the time.
Swedish massage is relaxing and therapeutic. It increases oxygen, blood and lymphatic flow to the body's tissues. With stress being a major factor in many people's lives, massage is a way to help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which causes the body and systems to relax. It releases Oxytocin, the feel-good hormone along to cortisol affects to decrease stress and ease to mind.  It also flushes the body of toxins and it feels great! When giving a massage, make sure you are in a relaxed state of mind because massage plays a part in transferrance of energies between the practitioner and the receiver. After the massage is over, make sure you release the energy fields that you may have encountered as the practitioner so you are not taking on any physical ailments. Protect your energetic field.

Below are the 5 basic massage techniques that you can use at home for a loved one.
The 5 basic strokes
  • Effleurage is the most superficial stroke in Swedish massage. It is a long gliding stroke and is most commonly used as the opening stroke in massage to apply the lubricant and assess the body's tissue while warming the muscles and skin. It deeply soothes and relaxes the mind and body by stimulating the nervous system, connects you to the receiver and is also used to close the massage. It can be applied to all areas of the body with open palms, soft fists or forearms using varied pressure and speed.
  • Petrissage is distinguished by kneading, squeezing, lifting, rolling and compression of the skin and musculature. The actions of this stroke release muscle tension and stretch the tendons providing major relief from New York pain and stress. This stroke usually follows effleurage in a basic massage sequence to further increase blood flow and warm the muscles in preparation for deeper work if necessary.
  • Friction is typically used in deep tissue work and consists of small, deep back-and-forth movements over a local area of muscle applied by the therapist's fingers, thumbs or elbows with little to no lubricant. It is used to break up adhesions and 'knots' in a typical deep tissue massage and should be applied only after effleurage and petrissage have been applied to warm the skin and muscles, preventing injury.
  • Tapotement is perhaps the most popular stroke associated with Swedish massage and is characterized by fast tapping, drumming, patting or hacking of the clients body with the therapist's hands, soft fists or finger tips. Commonly used in sports and medical massage, its stimulating effects affect the nervous system, circulatory system and musculoskeletal system, stimulating weak muscles and loosening tight ones depending on the length of application. Tapotement has also been shown to break up mucus congestion when applied over the chest and back by a trained therapist.
  • Vibration or shaking tends to imitate the pulsing sensations produced by electric or battery-operated massage devices. The therapist creates a trembling or vibrating movement from their tensed hands and fingers when applied to small areas or jostles or shakes larger areas of the body such as an arm or leg using both hands.

Emotional Health Promotes Physical Health

By: Rachael "BluLotus" Bynum

It’s no secret these days that there is clear connection between the mind, body, and spirit.

I know you can think of a time in your life when you were grieving from a bad break up…. or you lost a job…. or you loss someone close to you.

You probably felt horrible….

In this instance, it’s almost as if you can feel the pain in your physical body eating away at you.

You may even start to get a headache, fever, cold-sweats, and loss of appetite.

Your adrenal glands and sympathetic nervous system are at their peak and your body starts to physically shut down.

When your adrenaline is running high, your heart rate increases, your stomach slows down digestion, and your body tenses up causing pain and soreness to name a few things.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, each organ correlates to an emotion. For example:

Anger affects the liver.

Grief affects the lungs.

Stress affects the heart and brain.

Worry affects the stomach.

Fear affects the kidneys.

This is why some "pee their pants" when afraid (kidneys).....and also consider the liver of the angry alcoholic.

Love can bring peace and harmony to your entire being.

Exercising, meditation, deep breathing, and talking with someone are all ways to help you let go of all that you’re feeling. Drawing, listening to music, journaling, hanging with loved ones, and dancing can help change your mood. When your thoughts and mood changes, you will start creating a healthier environment for physical health and well being.

What is Ayurveda?

By: Rachael "BluLotus" Bynum, Healing Arts Practitioner
When I lived in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, I had the pleasure of working at a spa surrounded by the beautiful Ozark Mountains,  with natural hot springs, serenity, and many alternative healing centers. While contracting as a Licensed Massage Therapist at Gryphon’s Roost Day Spa, I learned many things about Ayurveda and had hands on training using many of the products as it relates to bodywork, treatments, food, and skincare. Since I like to test things on myself before mentioning it to someone else, I started to use the practices. I must say that I noticed a difference in my skin and body, a decrease in stress levels, as well as how my body felt overall. This led me to do further research about the inner and outer healing  aspects of Ayurveda.

 What is Ayurveda?
According to Deepak Chopra, MD, thousands of years before modern medicine provided scientific evidence for the mind-body connection, the sages of India developed Ayurveda, which continues to be one of the world’s most sophisticated and powerful mind-body health systems. More than a mere system of treating illness, Ayurveda is a science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge). It offers a body of wisdom designed to help people stay vibrant and healthy while realizing their full human potential.
Since Ayurveda is a science of life we must know what is life? Life according to Ayurveda is a combination of senses, mind, body and soul. So Ayurveda is not only limited to body or physical symptoms but also gives a comprehensive knowledge about spiritual, mental and social health.
Ayurveda is definitely a practice and way of life that will help in managing stress and connecting the mind, body, and soul

Trigger Point Therapy

By: Rachael "BluLotus" Bynum, LMT, CPT

Myofascial trigger points are hyper-irritatable areas within muscle of fascia that refer pain to other areas in predictable patterns.

Knowing the referred pain patterns can be helpful, as it can assist in locating the origin of the pain & relieving the pain by applying pressure to the trigger point.

Healthy muscles do not contain trigger points.  Myofascial pain can be caused by a variety of factors such as stress, fatigue, immobility, or poor nutrition.
In addition to pain, trigger points may cause dizziness, Sweating, vasoconstriction, and muscle stiffness and weakness. When left untreated, a chain reaction may occur, in which secondary trigger points develop in reference areas of chronically active trigger points and give rise to more pain.

Massage therapist can use Myofascial Release and Trigger Point Therapy to release tension and disturb this pain pattern for the purpose of decreasing pain and reprogramming the muscles, since over time, muscles hold the pain pattern memory.

You are Not the Mind...

“The Intuitive Mind is a Sacred Gift and the Rational Mind is a faithful servant.
We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the Gift.”
~Albert Einstein

It may seem a little confusing to make such a statement like, "you are not the mind." But we must realize, with the news, radio, commercials, magazines, video games, and etc in the world, our brain picks up these images and we are being programmed to think a certain way. Society shapes our mind and tells us what car to drive, what to wear, where to shop, etc..
We have become slaves to our mind. But if you train the mind and master it, it becomes your servant.
One thing you must realize……
You are not the mind, nor the thoughts that pass through it. Though it might be hard to accept this idea, the mind is not you, but only a tool that you use. It is a valuable instrument, but it has to be taught to obey you.

The real you is spirit....Spirit was given a body, mind, and soul  in order to observe and interpret the world in which we live. It is more powerful than any of the others because spirit cannot die....Spirit is the essence that connects you to every living organism throughout the universe.

Discipline and mastery of emotions and the mind will lead to mental strength that can be used as a tool that obeys your spirit.

It's interesting to me that...

It's interesting to me that ancient cultures documented what they saw around them. They studied the star systems which led to calendars. They meditated, which led to writing spiritual and religious texts. They discovered how to use nature to heal (herbology, crystal healing, reflexology, Ayurveda, acupuncture) by knowing the elements and the body. They had to figure this out, of course.

They used supreme mathematics to build structures like pyramids in places like so called Egypt, the Mayas, Nubia, China,etc.. We sure aren't building any today smh.

NOW all we do is study THEIR religions....Debate THEIR writings....or study THEIR philosophy.

Why have we stopped CREATING and THINKING? Why are we NOT questioning old scientific THEORIES as we should?

Don't let anyone kill your ability to QUESTION this QUEST we are on in life. Of course we can learn from the "past" but the MOST valuable things we learn will be OUTSIDE of a book....through experience, observation, and inner reflection we can come to know the  things we really need to know.

Knowledge can be in a book, but Wisdom and Inner/Overstanding comes through EXPERIENCE, which only LIFE through LIVING brings. So LIFE through observation is the REAL teacher in this school of life. U-are-IN-VERSE....don't you know you came here equipped with everything already INSIDE of you that you need to navigate this realm so called Earth?

Think about it...
